Smith BioMed (NZ) Ltd and it’s sister company SmithBioMed (Aust) Pty Ltd, were established some 8 years ago, purposely to provide an attractive alternative to laboratory screening for the presence of drugs of abuse in urine samples.
With the lower cost, ease of use and product reliability, this on-site testing approach proved to be highly successful in addressing issues around not only health and safety but also efficiency and productivity. It was also accepted as being a valuable aid in the treatment of drug addiction in re-habilitation services.
Of crucial importance was the early recognition of the need to offer a service that was affordable to small and medium sized organizations.
In addition our customer service provision covers policies and procedures for the collection and testing of urine samples and the supply of control specimens used in verifying the accuracy and integrity of the screening devices.
Founder and CEO is John M Smith whose experience both as Director/GM of a multinational medical manufacturing and supply company and also as GM of clinical services at a major public hospital in New Zealand, proved to be crucial in developing an organisation structure that could provide a much needed service but tailored to each individual customer needs and importantly at low cost. Hence the company is small with minimal overhead costs but totally focused on the individual needs of the range of customers.
Filling the role of Clinical Director is Elizabeth Plant who, in addition, holds the position of Director of Pharmacy at a major public hospital and is a member of a number of medication-related national committees.
